Non-Toxic

I never really cared or thought about the fact that crayons are non-toxic...let's just say that I appreciate it. I now know that Aiden isn't much of a "colorer", he just likes to eat them. We'll put them away for now.

Lagoon!!!!

Last year in May, we took a week's vacation in Salt Lake and went to Lagoon while we were there. We decided it would be a lot of fun to do that again so we planned the trip this year and went. It was Phil, Aiden and I, along with Phil's younget brother Dave and our good friend Mason. My friend Camille drove up from St. George Utah and Phil's sister Emily lives in Salt Lake so they came too. It was so much fun getting everyone together. This is how the trip started. We held off Aiden's afternoon nap so he could sleep for the drive and he was out by the time we pulled out of our parking lot!!! Mason and Dave are very enthusiastic about driving...not!! Ran through the water fountain because it was so hot outside and the water park was closed :( Did anyone know that there is overflow parking at Lagoon??? It is in a grass field...it was a long walk... This is most of us just posing for a picture together. Back row: Mason, Phil, Camille, Me, Dave and Emily in the front. They are psyched for this ride....it takes you so high in the air, waites a few seconds and then drops you...amazing and scary. Nic Cornia and his fiance, Rachelle came later that afternoon. They are so cute and fun! Waiting in line can get pretty boring.... Phil is being silly. This is my best friend who moved to St. George, Camille. I miss her to death all of the time. And this is how the trip ended...everyone was so exhausted and sleeping in the car. I only took a picture of Aiden because he is the only one that looks cute in his sleep. :) We are planning on going every year if we can, it seems like such a fun tradition. If anyone wants to sign themselves up, start saving and meet us there!

Sick Baby :(

Aiden was kind of acting fussy one afternoon, he took a short nap and seemed to feel better. The next morning, he woke up to a fever of 103 and the reddest cheecks I've ever seen. I gave him tylenol for the fever and knew that there wasn't much else I could do. A couple hours later, he started developing these spots on his face and within five minutes they would double in size...time to go to the doctor.

You can kind of see the spots that were on his eyelids and upper cheecks, you can also see how red his face was. So we went to the Dr. and he was diagnosed with Parvovirus (slap-cheeck virus, because it looks like they were slapped on the cheeck) and a hives breakout. We went home with some benedryl for the hives and were told he would be better in 5-6 days. Blah. Later that day, he threw up a couple of times, all over phil (which he thought was the most disgusting thing in the world).

This is him after a few days of being sick. Still not feeling well. This is his "sick bed", he mostly wanted to lay there all day or lay in my arms all day. I felt so lazy but there was nothing I could do! He watched movies and slept for 3 or 4 days!

This is him now...much better. He is smiling again and laughing and playing. I never thought I would see the day! And I never realized how much I missed it. I'm so glad to have him back!

Bed "Bugs"

I think Aiden is going through a weird stage of life and is having a hard time going to sleep in his bed again. He would prefer to sprawl out and take up almost our entire bed. Usually this is okay because Phil will have school until about 1030pm and then we can transfer him to his crib and go to bed. The last couple of nights have been better but I was able to get a picture of him at his happiest- in our bed! (Please ignore the ridiculous looking bed sheets- we are working on that!)

Quiet Time

I will often put on a movie for 30 minutes to distract Aiden so I can get a few things done quickly. However...this usually results in Phil getting distracted and not getting anything done either. So instead of doing homework the other day, Phil and Aiden watched a movie together. They were both quiet and out of my way for a while (and they look so darn cute). But Phil didn't get his homework done...I guess he took one for the team because the house got clean! Yay!

Phil is such a great father and provider for our family. I am so proud of him for working full time and going to school full time and being a husband to me full time (which is no small task!) I'm just glad for these moments he gets with his son between all the chaos in life!

All grown up

So I think I just turned around one day and Aiden was a toddler. I can still remeber holding him with a bottle and rocking him to sleep. Now I could only dream of him sitting still for five minutes. Now its climbing up on EVERYTHING, watching movies, speaking actual english, brushing his teeth and eating by himself...what is going on here? I think this is why people have more kids, they love them so much and want that baby back in their lives. Babies are so precious, Don't get me wrong, I love having a toddler, but there is just something about a baby that melts your heart. Maybe thats why my parents still call me their baby... :) I was just thinking a lot about him today and thought I would share some cute pictures.

Titanium Skittle

As Aiden was finishing some work on the computer, I, Phil, was in the kitchen getting something to eat. Aiden stood happily on the computer chair for some time pounding on the keyboard and otherwise "hacking", as we call it. He seemed to be wrapping it up, so I came back and helped him down off the chair. As he was running around the living room, I sat down at the computer. Well, I had 3 little batteries sitting out next to my cd's. You know, the type of batteries about the size of an M&M that you use to power laser lights and things? As I was saying, there were 3 of them...now there were 2. We looked all around and couldn't find it and I thought Aiden may have possibly swallowed it.

As it obviously turned out, he DID in fact ingest the battery and if I hadn't detected the alkaline on his breath, our little charger may have had a corrosion problem. Yeah, it's father's intuition(and foolishness for leaving batteries that size lying around).

So, we took him and got an X-ray done and this is what we found. I asked for a copy of the film and they let us have it.

Regardless, it was a fun way to spend a Saturday night and I liked the family time. I can't wait to have another kid!
